TaDa-daLA ... itz ME!

Windstorm 2011 - who knew San Gabriel Valley (So Cal) can get Cat 1 Hurricane wind?! Three days later, thousands are still without power. UPDATE: Some residents finally got their power restored after one week and thousands of homes sustained roof damages :(

Here is some lessons learned:

• The wind was at historic magnitude. The task to restoring power is dangerous. Residents who are too ignorant to recognize these two facts are not helping anyone with their complaints to the power companies.
• Gas burners trump electric stove tops. Cooking by candle lights is inefficient but it is so nice to have hot food and water.
• Resist bundling deals and keep your landlines and antique rotary phones. Turns out to be the only communication device that endure the storms.

BTW when donating to Red Cross for natural disasters, make sure to specify the local chapter(s) of the affected areas. This way, your money will not end up feeding useless administrative overheads at the corporate level!!!
